Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful husband!

June 17, 2012

(yes, I realize that the A is upside down.  It looked weird flipped the right way.)

Okay, I just thought I’d double-check this post that was supposed to go up on Sunday… and to my dismay, all of the text was not saved!  Gah!  And so it goes…

So here I go again, singing the praises of my dear husband.

You’ll do.

I’ve been seeing “dad” quotes all over the internet, and I haven’t been too impressed…  there’s just not a lot of variety.

“Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad.”

And yet it seems trite.  Perhaps that’s not the word.  It seems… well, like it doesn’t touch on Daddy-hood in the least.

Perhaps a better quote would be:

“Anyone can wake up 2 or 3 times a night, then get out of bed in the  morning at 5:00am, but to do it with milk, cartoons, a smile, and a snuggle takes a Dad.”

“Anyone can father a child, but very few can father a Jack?”

“Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to make it through these past 5 years with 3 small kids and two parents in one house 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Now THAT’S a Daddy!

So I came up short on the quotation.  I thought I’d ask the kids for some help:

“Daddy, I wuv your whiskers!” (Jack)

“Daddy, I love to snuggle with you 100!” (Charlie)

“I don’t want YOU- I want MY DADDY!”  (Jack)

“I have a BIG SQUEEZE for Daddy when he gets back from NYC, after he leaves his meeting, then takes the train, then drives in his black car, and parks in front of our house outside, and comes inside and puts down his computer.” (clearly, Charlie)

“Daddy always plays tickle monster and horsie and McDonalds.” (Jack)

“Hi DaDa!” (Maggie)

So I wish my dear husband a wonderful Father’s Day, and I wish you a relaxing and fun day with your children who adore you.

Maybe one more?

  1. This is an awesome post ~ you are a lucky man Tim! Great idea and great photos…wish I would have thought of it myself…wait till you see what Gary got for Father’s Day. Tim is going to be soooo jealous. The girls found it and talk about cheesy – literally! It is a nylon t-shirt with cheesburgers and french fries all over it. I have never seen anything look so disgusting in my life…it even made Gary look cheesy and that is hard to do! Now…if only I could get him to grow a mustache and wear it…I could top your Chinese Chrismas gift! Ellen read your posts and really enjoyed it too! How did you do the bubble with the writing on it…please let us know! We have a friendly argument going about it!
